Authentic U.S. Military Desert Night Camouflage (DNC) Parka with removable insulated liner. This Cold War–era military garment features the distinctive Desert Night Camouflage pattern, often referred to as “night desert grid” camo, developed for nighttime concealment in desert environments.
The parka shell was manufactured in 1989, while the quilted liner dates to 1984. Mixing liners and shells from different contracts was common in military use, and both pieces are genuine U.S. government issue.
The outer shell is made from a 50% cotton / 50% nylon blend, designed to be lightweight yet durable. The parka includes a removable insulated liner made with a nylon shell and polyester batting for additional warmth in colder conditions.
The coat features the classic fishtail hem, adjustable drawstrings at the hood, waist, and hem, and two front cargo pockets. The liner attaches with interior buttons, allowing the jacket to be worn either as a lightweight shell or as an insulated parka.
About the Desert Night Camouflage Pattern
The Desert Night Camouflage (DNC) pattern was introduced by the U.S. military in the late 1970s and widely used through the 1980s and early 1990s, including during Operation Desert Storm.
The grid-like pattern with scattered darker shapes was designed to disrupt a soldier’s silhouette when viewed through early night-vision technology. While later military technology made the pattern less effective, it remains one of the most recognizable and collectible military camouflage patterns today.
