Vintage 1994 Pentax IQZoom 928 Date 35mm point-and-shoot film camera, also sold internationally as the Pentax Espio 928.

The IQZoom 928 was one of Pentax’s more capable mid-1990s compact cameras, built around a genuinely useful 28-90mm power zoom lens. The wide 28mm setting is notably wider than the 35-38mm lenses found on many compact film cameras of the period, making it especially versatile for travel, architecture, interiors, street photography, and group photos. The lens is a 9-element, 7-group design with a maximum aperture of approximately f/3.5 at 28mm to f/9 at 90mm. (135 Compact)

Autofocus uses Pentax’s active 3-point AF system with focus lock, plus dedicated Spot AF for more precise focusing. Minimum focusing distance is approximately 0.58m / 1.9 ft. The camera also includes an Infinity-Landscape mode for distant subjects. (Pacific Rim Camera)

Exposure is fully automatic through programmed AE and multi-segment metering, but Pentax gave the 928 considerably more control than a basic snapshot camera. It includes exposure compensation up to ±3 EV, slow-shutter modes, daylight-sync flash, bulb exposures, multiple-exposure capability, and dedicated landscape and spot-focus modes. Standard shutter speeds run from approximately 1/400 second to 1/5 second, while Bulb mode allows exposures from roughly 1/2 second up to 10 minutes. (135 Compact)

The built-in flash offers automatic operation, red-eye reduction, daylight fill flash, slow-sync, and flash-off options. An optional Pentax wireless remote could also be used with the camera for remote shutter release. (ManualsLib)

This is the Date model, which adds an electronic date-back capable of imprinting date information directly onto the film. The original manual specifies several selectable date-imprint formats along with an option to shoot without imprinting data. (Manual Owl)

Film handling is fully automatic. The camera accepts DX-coded 35mm film from ISO 25-3200, automatically loads to the first frame after the back is closed, advances after each exposure, and rewinds automatically at the end of the roll. Non-DX film defaults to ISO 25. (manualzz.com)

The IQZoom 928 is particularly appealing because it combines a true 28mm wide-angle lens with a 90mm telephoto end, while still retaining the simplicity of a fully automatic compact. Many contemporary point-and-shoots started around 35mm or 38mm, so the 928’s wider starting focal length makes it substantially more useful in tight spaces and for travel photography.
