Introduced in 1996 alongside the Contax G2, the 21mm Biogon offers an expansive 90-degree diagonal field of view, with an optical design celebrated for its sharpness, contrast, and low distortion. Its 9-element, 7-group construction makes it particularly well suited for architectural photography, landscapes, interiors, street photography, and documentary work.
This example includes the dedicated Contax GF-21mm external optical viewfinder, which mounts to the camera's hot shoe and provides the appropriate framing for the 21mm focal length. The original retail box, Contax carrying case, lens caps, instruction booklet, and original documentation are also included.

Camera Compatibility
Compatible with the Contax G2 and modified Contax G1 35mm film cameras.
Important: Original, unmodified Contax G1 cameras require a factory ROM modification to recognize and operate this lens. Modified G1 bodies are generally identified by a green sticker inside the film compartment.
The included GF-21mm external optical viewfinder is used for composing photographs because the standard G1/G2 viewfinder does not provide 21mm framing.
Condition
Good overall vintage cosmetic condition. Lens barrel shows minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. Original retail box has visible scuffs, scratches, and edge wear. Contax carrying case shows light wear, and the GF-21mm viewfinder's rubber eyecup exhibits visible aging and surface marks.
Front and rear glass appear clean upon visual inspection. Please refer to photographs for exact cosmetic condition.
