Introduced in 1981, the AE-1 Program was an evolution of Canon’s enormously successful AE-1 and added fully programmed automatic exposure while retaining manual exposure control and Canon’s FD interchangeable-lens system. It has become one of the most recognizable Canon 35mm SLRs and remains a popular choice for photographers looking for a classic manual-focus film camera.
TESTED & WORKING
The Canon AE-1 Program has been tested and is currently working. The camera powers on and fires, and the shutter speeds sound appropriate during testing. A fresh 4LR44 6V battery is installed and included, so the camera is ready for further use/testing with 35mm film.
The camera does exhibit the commonly encountered Canon A-series “cough” or squeal. This is a brief squeaking sound heard when the shutter is fired and is associated with aging lubrication in the mirror mechanism—a well-known issue on AE-1, AE-1 Program, and related Canon A-series cameras.
The camera is currently working and the cough is primarily an audible issue at this time. The shutter fires normally and the speeds sound appropriate during testing. It does not prevent the camera from operating, but because the sound indicates an age-related lubrication issue, this kit is being sold as-is rather than represented as freshly serviced.

Lenses
The Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 is the classic standard prime for the FD system. Its normal 50mm field of view and relatively bright f/1.8 maximum aperture make it useful for everyday photography, portraits, available-light shooting, and learning manual focus.
The Tamron 28–70mm f/3.5–4.5 provides a versatile wide-to-short-telephoto range and uses Tamron’s Adaptall-2 interchangeable mounting system. The included Adaptall-2 adapter allows it to mount to the Canon FD system.
The Sigma Zoom-K II 70–210mm f/4.5 expands the kit into telephoto focal lengths useful for portraits, outdoor photography, sports, wildlife, and distant subjects.
Condition
Good overall vintage condition with normal cosmetic wear from age and use. The camera body shows scratches, scuffs, finish wear, and other signs of use. Lenses and accessories also show age-appropriate cosmetic wear. The Sun Valley bag has visible wear from storage and use.
