Vintage 1980s handmade Indian decorative hat featuring an incredibly detailed combination of embroidery, metallic embellishments and mirror-style accents over a black velvet exterior. The entire hat is covered in ornate floral and geometric designs worked in turquoise, lavender, gold and silver tones.
Likely dating to the 1980s, this is an Indian-made fashion/decorative cap influenced by traditional South Asian embroidered headwear. Pieces like this were produced by hand using highly decorative regional textile techniques and were also exported as fashion and specialty accessories. Features a structured flat-brim silhouette with repeating embroidered flowers around the crown, metallic disc and sequin embellishments, heavily decorated panel seams, and an especially elaborate concentric design across the brim. Elasticized opening at the back.

Vintage condition with substantial age-related wear. The hat contains an inner plastic shell/stiffener used to give the crown its structured shape. Additional surface wear, loose threads, missing/loose embellishments and general aging are present throughout as pictured.
