Vintage Horizon HZ 35 toy 35mm film camera featuring an extremely simple, low-cost plastic construction and focus-free design.
The HZ 35 is essentially a reusable version of a disposable camera, with a simple plastic lens, fixed focus, fixed exposure, manual film advance, and manual rewind. This is a basic toy camera rather than a conventional point-and-shoot and is best suited to experimental, lo-fi film photography.
Its inexpensive plastic construction can produce the soft focus, vignetting, uneven exposure, distortion, and other imperfections associated with toy cameras. Light leaks are also possible due to the camera's basic construction and age and should be considered part of the unpredictable nature of shooting with this camera.
Tested and working. Shutter fires, film advance and frame counter operate, and rewind mechanism functions properly. Camera was mechanically tested without developing a roll of film, so image quality and light-tightness have not been verified.
The camera does not have a built-in flash and is best suited to daylight and other bright shooting conditions. A hot shoe on top allows an optional external flash to be attached.
