Released in 2006, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 features a 7.2 megapixel CCD sensor, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens, optical viewfinder, and classic early digital camera image quality.

This camera has been tested and is functional, however the rear LCD screen is damaged and does not display images correctly. Despite the broken screen, the camera powers on, focuses, captures photos, saves images, and transfers files successfully. Sample photos shown in this listing were taken with this exact camera.

Because the LCD is unusable, operation is performed using the optical viewfinder. Upon startup the camera opens to the date/time setup screen. Since the LCD cannot be viewed, the user must navigate past this screen using the control buttons before shooting. Once past the startup screen, the camera is able to capture photographs normally.

Photos cannot be reviewed on the camera itself, creating a unique shoot-now, review-later experience similar to shooting film.

Keeping Cameras Alive

At CobbleStore, we do our best to keep functional cameras in use and out of landfills. While this camera's LCD screen is damaged, it still powers on, captures photographs, stores images, and transfers files successfully. Rather than discard it, we've tested it, documented its limitations as thoroughly as possible, and included sample images taken with the camera so buyers know exactly what to expect.

This camera won't be for everyone, but we believe there is value in giving imperfect equipment a second life. We hope the next owner will appreciate its unique character, continue making photographs with it, and help keep one more camera out of the landfill.

Untested and completely non-functioning parts-only examples of similar cameras often sell in the $30-$50 range, while fully functional examples we've sold have typically brought $130-$180. This camera falls somewhere between those extremes: not perfect, but still capable of producing images.
