Vintage 1988 Olympus Infinity SuperZoom 300 autofocus 35mm film camera. Also known in other markets as the Olympus AZ-300 / IZM-300, the SuperZoom 300 is an unmistakably late-1980s Olympus design featuring a substantial integrated grip and a versatile 38–105mm 3x zoom lens.
The 38–105mm zoom range covers everything from everyday snapshots, street photography, and travel at the wide end to portraits and tighter compositions at the telephoto end. Unlike the small rectangular point-and-shoots that became common in the 1990s, the SuperZoom 300 has an SLR-inspired body shape with a large hand grip and centrally positioned zoom lens.
Focusing and exposure are automatic, making the camera straightforward to use despite its more substantial appearance. The built-in electronic flash provides additional light when needed, while additional controls allow for functions including exposure compensation, self-timer shooting, and close-up photography.
Film handling is also automated, with powered film loading, advance, frame counting, and rewind. This combination of a long zoom range, autofocus, automatic exposure, and motorized film transport made the SuperZoom 300 a particularly advanced all-in-one 35mm camera for its era.
