Vintage Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 Quartzdate 35mm point-and-shoot film camera featuring a compact, weather-resistant design, automatic exposure, autofocus, built-in flash, and a versatile 38–80mm zoom lens.

Part of Olympus's popular Stylus Epic (µ[mju:]) family, the Zoom 80 was introduced during the late 1990s, when compact 35mm film cameras were at the height of their popularity. The Stylus series became known for its distinctive sliding lens cover, portable design, and convenient automatic features.

The Zoom 80 offers greater framing flexibility than fixed-focal-length point-and-shoot cameras, making it a practical choice for travel, everyday photography, portraits, and casual snapshots. Its automatic film handling, built-in flash, and Quartzdate feature make it especially approachable for photographers seeking a straightforward 35mm film experience.

This example has been mechanically tested with a dummy roll of film, with the shutter, zoom, flash, film advance, and rewind functions operating properly. A battery is included.

Please note: This camera has not been tested with an exposed and developed roll of film. The Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 is also known for a potential light-leak issue commonly called the "aura ring." Please read the testing information and model-specific disclaimer below before purchasing.

As with all vintage electronic photographic equipment, future performance cannot be guaranteed.

Important Notice – Potential Aura Ring Light Leak

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

The Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 is known to occasionally produce a distinctive circular or crescent-shaped light leak in developed photographs, commonly referred to as an "aura ring" or "halo effect."

This issue has been associated with aging or deteriorating light seals around the camera's extending zoom lens assembly.

Depending on the condition of the seals, lighting conditions, and shooting circumstances, affected photographs may display a bright curved ring, circular glow, halo, or flare.

The effect can be intermittent and may not appear in every photograph.

This particular camera has been mechanically tested with a dummy roll of film but has NOT been tested with an exposed and developed roll. Therefore, we cannot confirm whether this camera does or does not exhibit the aura-ring effect.

All mechanically tested functions operate properly, but light-tightness and final photographic results remain unverified.

Some film photographers appreciate the distinctive appearance of these light leaks as a creative effect, while others may consider them an undesirable defect.

Please purchase with the understanding that this known model-specific issue may be present. The camera is sold as-is, and returns or refunds due to the potential aura-ring effect cannot be accommodated, except where required by applicable law.

About the Olympus Stylus Series

Olympus introduced the original Stylus (µ[mju:]) series in the early 1990s, establishing one of the most recognizable designs in compact film photography.

The series became popular for its curved body, sliding protective lens cover, automatic exposure, and portability. Later models expanded the lineup with zoom lenses, improved autofocus systems, and additional convenience features.

The Stylus Epic Zoom 80 combines the classic Olympus compact-camera design with a practical 38–80mm zoom range, offering more compositional flexibility than the fixed-focal-length models.

Today, Olympus Stylus cameras remain popular among film photography enthusiasts, collectors, and photographers interested in the distinctive appearance of late-1990s point-and-shoot photography.
