Kodachrome was one of Kodak’s most iconic color films, known historically for its rich color reproduction, fine grain, sharpness, and exceptional archival stability. Unlike Ektachrome and other conventional slide films, Kodachrome does not use E-6 chemistry. Kodachrome 64 was designed for Kodak’s proprietary K-14 process, in which the color dyes were introduced during processing rather than incorporated into the film emulsion. (Wikipedia)
Important Processing Information: Standard color K-14 processing is no longer commercially available. Dwayne’s Photo in Kansas, the last laboratory in the world offering Kodachrome processing, stopped accepting Kodachrome film on December 30, 2010. This film therefore cannot currently be processed into normal Kodachrome color slides through a commercial lab. (ABC News)
Some photographers experiment with alternative black-and-white processing of old Kodachrome, but results are highly experimental and are not equivalent to the original Kodachrome color process.
This film comes from a larger collection of vintage photographic film that was reportedly kept refrigerated prior to acquisition. The original cardboard packaging is no longer present, so the exact expiration dates cannot be confirmed.
